No reports of casualties of fellow citizens in the Kiev clashes were reported to the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine, First Secretary of the Embassy Asim Osmanov told Trend on Feb.19.

"At the moment, no information about the affected fellow citizens has been received from any formal structures or from citizens themselves at the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan," the diplomat said.

Azerbaijani diplomatic mission earlier urged citizens to avoid visiting Kiev, where the protests are taking place.

" The embassy strongly urges Azerbaijani citizens in Kiev or people planning to visit the Ukrainian capital to refrain from visiting the active protest action zones in Kiev and crowded places, and encourages them to be diligent," the diplomat said.

Large scale street riots resumed in Kiev on February 18, the day of the Ukrainian parliament's meeting, during which the opposition demanded the restoration of the Constitution of 2004. Radicals broke into the building in the center of Kiev, burned tires, threw stones at cars and police officers. The opposition used firearms for the first time, according to the police.

Doctors say that in total, some 351 people asked for medical assistance, 241 participants of the mass events were hospitalized and 25 people were killed. The dead include around ten law enforcement officers.

The mass protests in Ukraine began on November 21, 2013, when the government announced the suspension of the preparation of the Association Agreement with the EU.
The clashes of protesters with police officers renewed in Kiev on Jan. 19 Three people were killed in the rioting. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich accepted on Jan. 28 the resignation of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and the Cabinet of Ministers, which will continue to perform their duties until the formation of a new government.
