Ganja, Azerbaijan, Feb. 19
By Elchin Huseynov - Trend:

The next meeting of Azerbaijani, Georgian and Turkish foreign ministers will be held in Turkey's city of Kars, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Feb.19 at a press conference on the results of the third meeting of the three countries' foreign ministers.

Also the Turkish minister did not rule out the holding of a meeting of the three states' heads.

The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Elmar Mammadyarov, Maia Panjikidze and Ahmet Davutoglu signed a declaration on Feb. 19 on the results of the ministers' meeting in Ganja. The meeting was held behind closed doors.

It is the third meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.

Bilateral meetings of foreign ministers of the three countries were also held today in Ganja. The last meeting was held in March 2013 in the Georgian city of Batumi.

The meeting will be held in late 2014 during events relating to the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the press conference.

The opening of this railway in the shortest time possible is important as NATO intends to use it for withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, according to the minister.

The earlier the railway is commissioned, the more economic benefit it will bring to the region's development, Mammadyarov said.
