The fuel changeover process and the annual services of the Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant continue as scheduled, deputy head of the Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Ahmadian said, the country's Mehr news agency reported on Feb. 19.

The facility has produced nearly seven billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity so far, Ahmadian said, adding that some 2.4 billion kilowatt hours of the produced electricity has been supplied to the to country's electricity network.

He underlined that the power plant produced daily some 20,000 megawatts hour of electricity during the cold season, which led to a savings of about 5 million liters of liquid fuel in thermal power plants of the country.

The power plant halted activities temporarily to change of about one third of its fuel, which is some 27 tons early in February. The power plant will resume supplying electricity to the network later in March.

Supplying the fuel of Iran's only nuclear power plant -Bushehr, is guaranteed by Russia for 10 years.

Russia delivered 82 tons of nuclear fuel in 2008 and 30 more tons in May 2011 to Iran. This amount meets the Bushehr NPP's fuel needs for four years.

Bushehr NPP which was inaugurated in September 2013 has a capacity of producing 1000 megawatts of electricity.

The power plant is scheduled to produce up to 5 billion megawatt hours of electricity per year, which is about 2 percent of country's total electricity production.
