Turkey's foreign ministry on Sunday denied allegations that the Taliban had opened an office in the country Anadoly agency reported.

"The news in the foreign press, which has been quoted by the Turkish media, do not reflect the reality," Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tanju Bilgic said.

The Frontier Post, a daily in Pakistan, said a Taliban office had opened in Ankara according to "credible intelligence sources".

Turkey hosted a trilateral meeting with Pakistan and Afghanistan last week. Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with Turkish President Abdullah Gul during the meeting.

Pakistan is currently holding peace talks with the Taliban.
