Iranian naval forces, shipping office, police and rescuers of the Red Crescent Society have held joint exercises on the prevention of emergencies in the Caspian Sea, Iranian Gilan Province Shipping Office Head Farhad Muntasar Kuhsari said on Feb. 27, according to the Iranian IRNA news agency.

He said the exercises which included over 100 personnel and 10 ships were held at the port of Anzali. The exercises were conducted in order to combat oil spills and eliminate emergencies.

During the exercises, the rescuers performed operations on search and rescue and first aid to the wounded, Farhad Muntasar Kuhsari said.

The shipping office head did not provide information as to the timeframes of the exercises.
