Turkey's Parliament Speaker: Russia key country in region

Turkey's Parliament Speaker said Thursday that relations with Russia, a key country in the Eurasian region, are important for peace, tranquility and stability, Anadolu Agency reported.

"The more bilateral relations with Russia strengthen and deepen, the more contribution they could make to peace and the maintenance of stability in the region," Cemil Cicek said on the sidelines of the Russian Science and Culture Center's inauguration in Ankara.

He added that Turkey would soon open the Yunus Emre Culture Center in Moscow.

Stressing the importance of consultations and coordination between the long-time neighbors, Cicek noted the recent steps in opportunities in science and culture.

For his part, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly Sergey Naryshkin said the culture center in Ankara would be a new door to Russia, its language and culture.
