After the Turkish parliament adopted a decision on subordination of the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HCJP), to the Ministry of Justice, the Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag signed an order on changing the composition of the country's High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, Sabah newspaper reported on Feb.28.
An additional five deputies under the secretary general, as well as three inspectors were appointed at the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, according to the newspaper.
After the subordination of HCJP to the Ministry of Justice, the Republican People's Party opposition appealed to the Constitutional Court, the newspaper said.
The Turkish president approved the decision of the Turkish parliament to transfer HCJP powers to the Ministry of Justice on Feb.28.
Turkish HCJP was founded in 1981. Powers include training, appointment as well as dismissal of judges and prosecutors and appointment of prosecutors and judges to trials.
