Viktor Yanukovych, who earlier declared his legitimacy as president of Ukraine, said at a press conference on Feb.28 said that he was not overthrown by anyone, he was forced to leave Ukraine because of threats to his life, RIA Novosti reported.

"No one has toppled me. I was forced to leave Ukraine under immediate threat to my life and the lives of my loved ones," Yanukovych said.

Yanukovych for the first time appeared in public - at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don - on Feb.28.
