The agreement signed by ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko with Russia, inflicted damage on Ukraine worth over $20 billion, according to Viktor Yanukovych, who has declared his legitimacy as president of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported on Feb. 28.

"I didn't and don't wish her [Tymoshenko] evil, I always talked about it publicly. I have nothing personal against her, but the agreement she signed with Russia, brought to the entire Ukraine losses worth over $20 billion, which fell onto all Ukrainian citizens. And she knows this very well," Yanukovych said at a press conference in Russian city of Rostov-on-Don on Friday.

Touching upon the criminal case, in which Tymoshenko was accused, Yanukovych said she was confined in prison under exclusive conditions.

"She was judged by the Ukrainian court, the court decided, the decision was executed. We can say that the conditions of her confinement were exclusive, not the same as for all, who have served a sentence. She was in fairly good conditions," he said.

Yanukovych reiterated that the issue of releasing Tymoshenko was in the legal field.
