If Russia continues to take aggressive action, the EU will apply resolute measures without hesitation, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle said at a press conference in Tbilisi on March 4.

Füle did not name these measures.

"There are important factors that will stop the bloodshed in Ukraine," he said. "The Council on Foreign Policy has recently reminded Russia of the need to fulfil its commitments to the international community. The matter rests in Ukraine's territorial integrity which must be protected."

Fule said that the recently voiced declaration fixed not only the EU's position in relation to Ukraine's events, but was designed to facilitate the final de-escalation of the situation in Crimea.

"The foreign ministers said that if Russia continues its policy of aggression in Ukraine, the EU will take targeted measures," Fule said.

Several thousand people participated in the two rallies gathering in front of the Supreme Council of Crimea on the morning of February 26.

In a joint statement, the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan , Great Britain and US , as well as chairman of the European Council and chairman of the European Commission condemned Russia's position on Ukraine and cancelled preparations for the G-8 summit in Sochi scheduled for June 2014.
