Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Secretary General of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), Tahir Mansurov on March 12, Kazakhstan's presidency said.

"The issues of the organization's current activity, plans for the upcoming period, as well as implementation of integration processes in Eurasia were discussed during the meeting," Kazakhstan's presidency said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the importance of the work carried out aimed at providing a basis for the multilateral interaction of the states within integration structures.

The president also paid attention to the fruitful results of the integration institutes' activity which contribute to the effective cooperation of the countries in the sphere of technologies and business.

Mansurov talked about the fulfillment of the organization's tasks and the work aimed at achieving economic integration in the interests of EurAsEC member states' nations.

EurAsEC members are Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and Armenia, while Moldova and Ukraine have observer status. The community was formed in 2001 to strengthen the economic ties of the participating countries. EurAsEC facilitated the establishment of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space.
