A new subway line was commissioned in the Turkish capital of Ankara on March 13, Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported on March 13.

Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other officials of the country attended the opening of the new Kizilay-Chayyolu subway line.

The length of the new line in Ankara is 16.5 kilometres. Its construction began in February 2012 and connects 11 stations.

A new subway line Batykent-Sincan running to a distance of 15.5 kilometres was commissioned in Ankara on Feb.13, 2014. This subway line connects 11 stations.

The subway was opened in Ankara in 1996. The total length of the lines in Turkey's capital is 60.4 kilometres and there are 22 stations.
