No notification from Ukraine regarding transition to visa regime with Russia

Moscow has not received an official notification from Ukraine regarding the transition to a visa regime with Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on March 20, RIA Novosti reported.

Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Andriy Parubiy reported on March 19 that the Council decided to impose a visa regime with Russia in connection with the events in Crimea. Arseniy Yatsenyuk empowered as Prime Minister by the Verkhovna Rada said that Kiev should not hurry with the introduction of a visa regime with Russia or the transition to foreign passports.

"Russia considered the Council's position on the transition to the visa regime for mutual trips of citizens between Russia and Ukraine," according to the statement. "We have not received an official notification from the Ukrainian side."
