Lebanon president urges to implement security plan

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman stressed Friday that despite the terrorist attacks against the Lebanese security forces, the decisions adopted by the council of ministers will be implemented, Xinhua reported.

In a statement by the presidential media office, Suleiman urged the Lebanese Armed Forces to confront terrorists and criminals no matter how many sacrifices they make, stressing that they "should cut the road to those who sought to turn the nation into a hostage to serve terrorists and criminals."

He said "all terrorist activities that target the members of the army and police won't stop those forces from implementing the decision of the government to preserve security and stability."

The cabinet approved Thursday a security plan for the northern port city of Tripoli and the eastern Bekaa region bordering Syria that tasks the armed forces with seizing weapons depots and take all measures to arrest armed men in Tripoli.
