The results of Turkish municipal elections may be cancelled in cities of Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Izmir, Sanliurfa, Van and Kutahya, Turkish Milliyet newspaper said Wednesday, April 2.

This is due to the fact that Turkish opposition and ruling party demanded to re-count the votes in these cities, according to the newspaper.

Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) won in the municipal elections in Istanbul, Ankara, Sanliurfa and Kutahya.

The oppositional National Action Party (MHP) won in Adana, while the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party was victorious in Van, and the Republican People's Party (CHP) won in Izmir.
