Turkey's main opposition party has demanded that local election results in capital Ankara be canceled due to "irregularities." Anadolu Agency reported
The Republican People's Party, or CHP, filed a petition of objection to the Supreme Board of Elections on Sunday, seeking to void the results for the mayor of Ankara.
CHP's mayoral candidate for the capital, Mansur Yavas claimed that the poll results were not fair.
He said the party was appealing to the elections authority to counter the "blow dealt on the will of the citizens of Ankara."
Yavas said that they had spotted "irregularities" at just over half of the capital city's 12,334 poll stations.
Ruling AK Party's Ankara mayoral candidate, Melih Gokcek won his fifth election victory in the March 30 local ballot for another five years in office.
He was officially declared mayor of Ankara on Saturday, almost one week after the elections.
On Friday, Ankara's provincial election body rejected CHP's first appeal against the results.
The opposition party filed an objection to the Ankara board on April 3, 2014, requesting that all votes be recounted and canceled votes reassessed.
Political parties and candidates have applied for recounts of local election votes in several cities across the country. The voting has been canceled and will be repeated in the eastern province of Agri, as well as in four districts and a village.
