Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin will meet at the end of next week.
Abashidze told the media in Tbilisi on April 10. He stressed that the Abashidze - Karasin format retains its relevance.
"Georgia does not have diplomatic relations with Russia," Abashidze said. "We are considering the problems and as far as possible trying to solve them. The second format of the Geneva talks has significance. It also does not lose its relevance. I think that at this stage these negotiations will be relevant."
"Special attention will be paid to the problems of economic relations," he said.
The Abashidze-Karasin meeting has been postponed several times since March 3.
Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.
Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
