The machinist of the N. Narimanov Oil and Gas Extraction Department of Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) died due to carelessness and violation of security rules, according to a message form SOCAR.
During the incident the SOCAR employee Mais Kazimov, born 1965, did not wait for a cable laying vessel (attached to the Garadagh-10 ship) to finish mooring to the dock and attempted to jump on the dock's platform, but fell into the gap between the vessel and the dock.
Kazimov died from the wounds he suffered as a result of the fall. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
