Iran, UAE to form joint high profile political-economic committee

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Arab Emirates agreed on Tuesday to set up a high profile politico-economic committee to facilitate cooperation on regional and international issues, IRNA reported.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Arab Emirates agreed on Tuesday to set up a high profile politico-economic committee to facilitate cooperation on regional and international issues, IRNA reported.

The Iranian and UAE foreign ministers, deputy foreign ministers along with representatives from the private sectors were present in the meeting of Tehran-Abu Dhabi Joint Economic Commission.

They agreed that a political committee chaired by deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the United Arab Emirates to convene in Tehran and Abu Dhabi every six months.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed an-Nahyan signed some eight documents in the commission.

Based on the agreement, Iran and UAE are committed to broaden political cooperation in international organizations and conventions.

The committee envisaged to carry out demarcation of Iran and UAE sea borders at the Oman Sea within three months.

Tey also agreed to cancel political as well as service visa to ease exchange of visits between the two sides officials.

They agreed to broaden cooperation on campaign against drug-trafficking, cargo and human trafficking, organized crimes, removal of border issues and preventing illegal shipments.

The two sides also agreed to boost cooperation in politics, economy, investment, ports and custom houses, telecommunications, research studies, the youth and sports affairs, standards, water and electricity, environment, agriculture, renewable energies, oil, gas and petrochemical industry, sanitation, transportation, consulate affairs, legal and police issues, education and tourism.

The second Iran-UAE high economic commission meeting held in the city of Abu Dhabi on Tuesday in presence of the Iranian and the Emirates foreign ministers and their deputies.
