Any form of discrimination inadmissible in Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan, April 18

By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Any form of discrimination is inadmissible in Kazakhstan, the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev said during the 21st People's Assembly of Kazakhstan on April 18.

"No one has ethnic privileges in our society. All Kazakhs are equal before the law. We all are different and equal children of the united Kazakhstani people. Unity and cohesion are the core values of society," Nazarbayev said.

The head of state pointed out that the 2050 Strategy reflects the main principles.

"The main principles include the equality of all Kazakhs regardless of ethnicity, language, religion, social peculiarities. Any forms of discrimination, any infringement of peace and harmony is inadmissible in our country," Nazarbayev said.

All the issues regarding the status of the state language and the official status of Russian language have been solved in Kazakhstan, the president added.

"There will come a time when equality will be at a higher level. Leaders will be chosen regardless of ethnicity. For example, an ethnic Spaniard has been appointed French prime minister recently," Nazarbayev said.

That's what should be in a multi-ethnic state, according to the president.

The head of state recalled that Kazakhstan is among bilingual countries and demanded that the provisions of the law "On Languages" are accurately executed throughout Kazakhstan.

"Our capital, Astana should be a worthy example of tolerant international relations," the president said.

Nazarbayev added that the road infrastructure, public transport facilities, streets, avenues, and other urban facilities should have pointers, should fully comply with the law, and should be in Kazakh and Russian languages. This concerns all province and regions of the country.

The head of state urged the authorized bodies to pay attention to the non-execution of these laws.

"Currently, bus stops are announced only in one language for some reason, route guides are also in one language - all this is the violation of the Constitution," Nazarbayev said.

The relevant authorities which oversee the accuracy of execution of the laws should pay attention to this, according to the president.

"It is important for everyone, there are no trifles in this issue," Nazarbayev said.
