A passenger train has derailed in Kazakhstan, the country's Ministry of Emergency Situation's said.

Some 13 cars of the passenger train No.42, which was en route from Almaty to Atyrau, derailed between the junctions of Zhanterek and Enbay at 328 kilometers of the railway, in the district of Kyzylkugin on April 19, 2014, at 17:55. The train consists of 19 cars, including 16 passenger cars. In total, there were 586 passengers and 26 conductors in the train.

The forces of the Emergency Situations Department of the Atyrau province, Western Regional Airmobile Rapid Response and Rescue Group, the Center for Disaster Medicine, aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (69 people, 12 pieces of equipment, and two helicopters-Eurocopters) arrived at the scene. Moreover, two recovery trains of Kazakhstan Temir Joly JSC, 25 pieces of equipment (including 15 buses to evacuate the passengers) from the DossorMunaiGas, KaynarMunaiGas, EmboMunaiEnergo organizations also arrived at the scene.

The aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations rushed eight people to the city of Atyrau, three of them have been hospitalized. The remaining passengers have been evacuated by buses to the Makat station, where work to provide psychological assistance to passengers was organized. Four psychologists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in this work.

A hotline telephone was provided. In total, 14 calls were received. Around 160 police officers were involved for protection of public order.

In total, 12 people were hospitalized. (six people in Atyrau, and six in Makat station ).

The accident resulted in the delay of nine passenger trains and 34 freight trains.

The forces of Kazakhstan Temir Joly JSC (218 people, 22 pieces of equipment, eight power plants and two recovery trains from the stations of Makat and Kandyagash) worked on eliminating the consequences of the accident at the scene.

The reconstruction of the railway line was completed and the movement of trains was resumed on April 20, at 05:57.
