Iran invites Azerbaijani investors to participate in the project for construction of a cement plant in the Khalkhal city of Iran's Ardabil province, Iranian MP from the city of Khalkhal, Jalil Jafari said commenting on the results of the negotiations with Azerbaijan's ambassador to Iran, Javanshir Akhundov, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on April 21.

During the negotiations, the Azerbaijani side expressed its interest in making investments in the cement plant, the construction of which was suspended nearly three years ago, according to the Iranian MP.

Azerbaijan's ambassador to Iran, Javanshir Akhundov has been on a visit to Ardabil since April 20, Bahrouz Zare Mirzai, Iranian Foreign Minister's spokesman in Ardabil province told Trend on April 21.

"The ambassador held meetings with the governor of Ardabil, Mejid Khodabakhsh, mayor of Sarein , as well as other officials on April 20," Mirzai said.

The issue related to making investments in the Ardabil province by Azerbaijan was discussed during the meetings, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry's representative.

Mirzai added that the projects for construction of a cement plant in Khalkhal, development of tourism in Sarein, construction of the Ardabil-Bilasuvar (Azerbaijan) railway, were discussed during Akhundov's meetings with the officials of the Ardabil province.
