The ethnic Kazakhs residing abroad, who are returning to live permanently in Kazakhstan will be able to choose the region of residence, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population of Kazakhstan Tamara Duisenova said.
"The choice of the region remains on the ethnic Kazakh, who arrives in the country. We will determine the regions with a deficit in the labor force, a special social package will be provided there," she said at a briefing held at the Central Communication Service under the President of Kazakhstan.
Earlier, the regions of resettlement for repatriates were determined by the government. The regions where there is a shortage in the labor force, the repatriates will be rendered with fare for transportation, luggage, service rental housing, which after five years can be privatized, according to the minister.
"The status of repatriate will be assigned to all arrived ethnic Kazakhs, regardless of regional resettlement in accordance with the new program of migration policy in Kazakhstan. Furthermore, in accordance with the previous law, the Kazakh government removes evidence of solvency condition for immigrants and reduces the time of obtaining citizenship for them to one year," she added.
