An explosion occurred in a business center in Uzbek capital of Tashkent on the evening of April 23. The business center is located on the ground floor of a ten-storey building in one of Tashkent's central districts.

The explosion was due to gas leakage, according to Uzbek Interior Ministry.

The ministry said that inflammation occurred "due to improper use of natural gas", which led to "gas explosion".

The blast destroyed walls on the ground floor. Repair works and overlapping were underway on the ground floor at the moment of explosion.

About 40 people were evacuated from the building, including four injured - three men and a woman, who suffered varying severity injuries.

The consequences of the accident are being addressed, according to a message from the Interior Ministry.

The roads leading to the intersection near the affected building were temporarily closed.

Police, firefighters, emergency situations service and ambulances arrived at the explosion site.

All people in the building, as well as the surrounding buildings were evacuated.

Currently the specialists of the Emergency Situations Ministry are using machinery to remove debris from the explosion.

The woman, who was injured in the blast, died in the hospital, according to recent reports.
