Iran is planning to organize an international conference on Afghan studies and production of narcotics in Afghanistan. The conference will be held in Tehran on May 12, IRNA reported.

Iran is planning to organize an international conference on Afghan studies and production of narcotics in Afghanistan. The conference will be held in Tehran on May 12, IRNA reported.

The conference which is sponsored by Iranˈs Azad University will deal with the menace posed by producing illicit drugs to humanity and new initiatives and practical steps the international community needs to take to beat the menace of drugs.

Scholars, university professors and researchers from Iran and other countries around the world will discuss issues surrounding production of narcotics in Afghanistan and measures to fight drug-trafficking.

They will also review ways to decrease the domestic, regional and international threats posed by drug-trafficking in Afghanistan in 2014.

Researchers have been asked to send their articles on reasons of significant rise in production of narcotics in Afghanistan over the past decade, the role of key players in the campaign against drug trafficking and how the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan could affect the future of drug production in the country.

The Conference will study Afghan governmentˈs capability to fight drug trafficking, terrorism and organized crimes after 2014.
