By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

Turkmenistan and Turkey will discuss prospects for developing the intergovernmental dialogue as part of the Turkish President Abdullah Gul's working visit to Ashgabat on Saturday.

Gul's visit will take place at the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's invitation to the Turkmen Racing Horse Festival, which is held on last Sunday of April each year, Turkmen government said on April 26.

"The visit of the head of a friendly state, during which the parties will also exchange views on the state and development prospects of multifaceted intergovernmental dialogue, is meant to give another impetus to constructive Turkmen-Turkish cooperation," according to the Turkmen government's message.

Turkmen government also said this cooperation successfully developing on bilateral and multilateral bases, primarily in the format of major international organizations and reputable regional structures.

Turkey is one of the largest trade partners of Turkmenistan.

Over 600 Turkish companies are operating in the Turkmen market. They are involved in power generation, oil and gas industries, construction, transportation, communication, textile and agricultural industries.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves and the country exports its natural gas to markets in China, CIS countries and Iran.

The possibility of constructing gas pipelines from Turkmenistan to the markets of South Asia and Europe is also being studied.

Turkmenistan's resources can be delivered to the European markets through the Caspian Sea by constructing a 300-kilometer long pipeline along the sea bottom to the coast of Azerbaijan.

Afterwards the Turkmen fuel can be sent to Turkey which has a common border with European countries.
