Belarus, Kazakh and Russian presidents discussed cooperation in the framework of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Community, Kazakh presidency reported.

Alexander Lukashenko, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on April 29 also summed up the preparation of the draft Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and discussed the issues of expanding the number of participants of the Eurasian economic integration.

Kazakh President drew attention to a number of issues requiring resolution while preparing the draft Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and stressed the need for careful observance of all legal norms and interests of its future member states.

Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed confidence that all existing problems and controversies concerning the creation of the future union will be resolved.

"A transitional period is envisaged in the most sensitive issues...I think today we'll discuss confidentially each issue and decide what to do. We have always reached a consensus, and I am sure it will be in this way in the future too," the Kazakh president said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in turn said the Customs Union brought real benefits to the economies of three countries.

"But we can take another step to deepen our cooperation, to put our cooperation to a higher level," Putin said.

Meanwhile Belarus president Lukashenko spoke about the existing problems within the Eurasian Economic Community. In particular, he touched upon the issues of transport and goods transportation within the Common Economic Space.

"The attractiveness of the Union for other states depends on its effectiveness," Lukashenko said.
