Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai discussed Georgia's progress towards integration with the alliance.

Appathurai stressed that NATO appreciates Georgia's recent reforms, the Georgian government said.

He called the meeting interesting.

Appathurai stressed that NATO appreciates Georgia's efforts to normalize relations with Russia.

"We stand for reducing the tension between Georgia and Russia and therefore appreciate Georgia's efforts to reduce tensions," he stressed.

The parties discussed the agenda of the NATO upcoming summit in Wales.

"Georgia is waiting for transition to a new stage of developing the relations with the alliance," Garibashvili said.
