Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Sunday that Iran does not intend to weaken Russia as the major gas supplier, IRNA reported.

Responding to a question whether the Iranian plan to export gas to Europe will not weaken Russia as the major gas supplier, he said, ˈNo, we do not intend to weaken Russia by no means.ˈ

He told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with Turkmen Vice-President for Energy, Oil and Gas Affairs, the ground is well-prepared for barter trade with Turkenistan according to which Iran will export goods in return for purchase of the Turkmen gas.

Zanganeh said that he reached an agreement with the Turkmen vice-president for energy, oil and gas in Tehran earlier in the day.

He added that Iranian companies should make necessary coordination with the Turkmen partners to export more goods to Turkmenistan.
