About 30 railway carriages derail in Kazakhstan

Some 29 loaded railway carriages derailed in Kazakhstan on May 5, 16:56, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakh Railways) reported on May 6. Nobody was injured in the incident.

The carriages derailed at Chernovodsk - Badam section of Shymkent road department. Train traffic on this site was temporarily closed and renewed on May 6, 00:10 following clean up measures.

Meanwhile Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations said that eight derailed carriages were loaded with sulfuric acid, 17 carriages with hardware and one with grain. Moreover one container carriage and one thermos carriage derailed.

Some 10 passenger trains were delayed from one to six hours due to the incident.

A special commission of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy will investigate the cause of the derailing.
