British Foreign Secretary William Hague arrived in Tbilisi Wednesday evening, May 7.

The British side expects rapprochement between the two countries as a result of the visit, British ambassador to Georgia Alexandra Hall told the media.

"We appreciate Georgia's efforts and its contribution to the fight against international terrorism, participation in NATO missions," she said. "We fully support the signing of the association agreement by Georgia and EU. We were one of the initiators accelerating this process. We believe that we will have close relations in the future."

Hague will begin official meetings on May 8.

First, he will meet with Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze. Then, a meeting will be held with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and President Giorgi Margvelashvili.
Later, a meeting with the opposition will be held.

Hague arrived in Tbilisi after his visit to Ukraine.
