Kazakhstan introduces temporary ban on alcohol imports from several countries

Astana, Kazakhstan, May 12
By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

A temporary ban on the import and sale of alcoholic beverages will be introduced in Kazakhstan from June 1, 2014, the Kazakh Agency for Consumer Protection reported.

"This measure was taken regarding the identification of numerous cases of trafficking in the consumer market of Kazakhstan alcoholic beverages produced in Italy, France, Scotland, Russia, Belarus, implemented with violations of the requirements of national legislation and technical regulations of the Customs Union," the statement said.

The producers of these countries unreliably indicate contradictory restriction of the use of alcohol by persons under the age of eighteen years on the labeling, according to the report.

Besides no information regarding the maker's name, place of production, or importer, there are also damaged labels or illegible markings that make it impossible to read the contents.

Another violation is the lack of application or incomplete information in the official language.
