An Iranian official has dismissed reports about selling private phone conversations by employees of the country's telecommunication company.
Managing director of Isfahan province's telecommunication company, Hossein Keshaei said that the statements quoted as his words by Iranian media outlets are completely incorrect, Iran's Tabnak news portal reported on May 20.
Earlier several Iranian news agencies including official IRIB, quoted Keshaei as saying that some employees of the telecommunication company in Isfahan were selling recorded private phone conversations to certain people.
Keshaei was quoted by IRIB news agency on May 19 as saying "the issue was discovered a few months ago and those employees have been punished."
It should be recalled that over the past decade, the Iranian government has privatized telecommunication companies.
A financial company affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) bought 51 percent of the shares of Telecommunication Company of Iran in 2009.
