Another meeting to be held in Georgian village

Tbilisi, Georgia, June 3

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Another meeting will be held in the Georgian village of Ergneti, located in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict on June 3 as part of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism. Representatives of South Ossetia and Georgia intend to discuss the facts of violating the de facto border, the problems caused as a result of the barbed wire installation.

Moreover, the Georgian side during the meeting intends to raise the issue of the incidents that occurred on the de-facto border line during the last month, as well as to discuss humanitarian issues.

Besides the parties of the conflict, the representatives of Russia, the UN, the OSCE and the EU will attend the meeting.

Large scale military action was launched between Georgia and Russia in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008.

Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.

Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August.
In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
