The first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Framework Document on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ended in Baku on June 18.
The officials of state organizations from nine member-states of the committee (Azerbaijan, Turkey, Indonesia, Guinea, Cameroon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Malaysia), as well as representatives of the Secretariat and subordinate organizations of the OIC, the International Labour Organization (ILO) attended a two-day meeting.
A draft action plan prepared for the implementation of a framework document was adopted at the meeting.
The action plan reflects the directions of technical cooperation for labor safety among the OIC member-states (2014-2016), the coordination of organizational activity on collecting statistics information on labor markets (2014-2015), the creation of a common information base about migrant workers (2014 - 2016).
The action plan envisages cooperation in the protection of employees' rights and legislation on the labor market (2014-2015), creating a learning system designed to economically integrate prisoners and displaced persons, as well as establishing a vocational training center and OIC labor market.
The document also included the use of the social insurance system for occupational injuries, as well as such individual items as the approach based on Islamic principles to resolve the problems of labor and employment.
The sponsors have also been determined to resolve the issues indicated in the document.
During the meeting, the Malaysian side presented the network of civil service employment.
A report and the draft executive program were adopted at the meeting.
The conference of OIC labor ministers will be held in Indonesia in 2015. The Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry will chair the steering committee for the implementation of the framework document on labor, employment and social protection.
