UAE recalls ambassador from Iraq

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday has recalled Abdullah Ibrahim Al Shihi, its ambassador to Baghdad, in view of the security deterioration in Iraq, state news agency WAM reported, Xinhua reported.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep concern at the continuation of the policy of exclusion, sectarianism and marginalisation of basic components of the Iraqi people.

"The ministry believes such an approach will exacerbate the situation and create a political environment that will lead to a further growth in political tensions and deterioration of the security situation in Iraq," the statement said.

Similar moves were taken earlier this week by the United States, Australia and other countries.
