The problem of refugees and IDPs has reached a critical point in the world, Isabel Santos, the head of the OSCE PA Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions told Trend on June 30.

Santos underscored that the issues related to the problem of refugees and IDPs will be discussed during the session at her initiative, adding that today the world sees the highest number of refugees.

She pointed out that the number of refugees and IDPs exceeds 51 million in the world.

The head of the OSCE PA committee believes that the world should have a common policy for settlement of the refugee problem.

She went on to add that of course, this problem is in different forms in each country, but the basic principles should be directed at fighting this problem.

Santos stressed that these principles should be based on honor, peace, development, good social position and an open attitude to this problem.

She underscored that a good dialogue should be established among civilizations, developed and developing countries and tolerance should be ensured in order to prevent this problem.
