The Islamic Action Front (IAF) Wednesday blasted the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS), accusing it of declaring war against Muslims and non-Muslims alike, in apparent reaction to the latter's proclamation of a Muslim Caliphate in territories it controls in Iraq and Syria, The Daily Star reported.
"We warn against the blaring trumpets used by suspicious and devious groups, stirring strife in the name of religion," the Islamist party said in a statement.
"The so-called Daesh organization has declared war against all people without exception, whether Muslims or non-Muslims ... It is a dubious group that indulges in the killing and destruction of Muslims, and the disintegration of their countries," the statement added.
The Islamist party which has branches in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, noted that ISIS has failed to wage Holy war or Jihad against Israel in support of the Palestinian cause.
"If they were really true and faithful they would have dispatched their suicide bombers and detonators to occupied Palestine for honorable martyrdom that would be praised by the whole [Muslim] nation," the statement added.
ISIS over the weekend declared the establishment of a "Caliphate" or Islamic state, in vast swathes of territory that it has captured in Syria and Iraq, and nominated its chief Abu Bakr al Baghdadi as Caliph, the head of state and "leader for Muslims everywhere."
The Islamic Action Front is regarded as a more moderate Islamist party because of its recognition of democracy and pluralism, its tolerance of other religions and its lack of support for extreme revolutionary movements. They oppose Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Fatah al-Islam while they sympathize with Hamas.
