The next meeting of the Special Representative of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin will be held in Prague on July 9.

The parties came to an agreement during the telephone conversation, he said.

"June 30, I had a telephone conversation with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin. We agreed that the next meeting in the format of the Georgian-Russian dialogue will be held in Prague on July 9, as well as two days earlier the expert meeting will be held on trade and economic issues. The experts will discuss the results of work carried out in this area since 2012 and up to date, including the Association Agreement signed by Georgia with the EU," Abashidze noted.

"The meeting of experts will focus on the results of the activities in this sphere," he added.
The meeting of experts was held on July 7 where the issues of free trade between Georgia and Russia on the background of signing the Association Agreement with the EU were discussed.

Large scale military action was launched between Georgia and Russia in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military. Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
