No ISIL threat against Iran borders

Iran's Interior Ministry says ISIL Takfiri terrorists pose no security threat against the Islamic Republic's western borders, PressTV reported.

"The situation along our borders is very good and there is no concern in this respect," Interior Ministry Spokesman Hosseinali Amiri said on Friday.

The crisis in Iraq escalated after the ISIL militants took control of the city of Mosul in a lightning attack on June 10, which was followed by the fall of the city of Tikrit, located about 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Tikrit was later taken back by the Iraqi armed forces.

The United Nations has said violence claimed the lives of over 2,400 Iraqis in June, making it the deadliest month so far this year.

Meanwhile, Iran has refused to interfere in the Iraqi crisis militarily, but it has expressed preparedness to provide the government in Baghdad with security consultation in countering the ISIL threat.
