Evacuation of residents began in Southern Kazakhstan because of the flood waters, Emergency Situations Department of the South Kazakhstan region said.
"Residents of the Arys district of South Kazakhstan region were first affected by the flood.
Nineteen houses in the Montaytas settlement were flooded, 56 more residential structures are in the danger zone," the report says.
All residents of these houses were evacuated.
According to the Emergency Situations Department, flood was caused by a local channel flowing through the settlement. Due to heavy rain and rapid warming the channel overflowed and water rushed through the streets.
