UK Secretary of State for Defense, Philip Hammond plans to arrive in Astana on Feb.27. He will discuss defense and security policy in Central Asia, as well as operation of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) with Kazakh leadership, Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Altai Abibullayev said at a briefing in Astana.
The meetings with the country leadership will discuss plans for transferring authority to ensure security in Afghanistan to the country's authorities, possible development of the issue after 2015, as well as ensuring transit of military equipment and personnel to Afghanistan through the Kazakh territory.
