Fire broke out in the mountains near Alma-Ata. Helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire. Nearly 300 people are evacuated from the children's camp, the city administration said.
The fire was reported to begin on Wednesday at 22:30 local time.
It turned out that the fire occurred in the Ile-Alatau National Park, which is located in Talgar district of Almaty region and is subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture, RIA Novosti reported.
The mayor of the city have ordered to establish an emergency headquarters under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Erbol Shormanov, taking into account the threat that fire poses to the residents of Almaty. Some 536 people of the Department of Emergency at the Alma-Ata, 43 units of ground vehicles and three helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire.
