According to the July report of the International Grains Council (IGC) global forecast of wheat production for 2012/13 marketing year amounts to 664.6 million tons, decreasing by 6.4 million tons compared to May forecast and 30.4 million tons less than in the past season. Thus price of 1 ton of wheat was $329 on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) as of August 22 this year, at the Paris Mercantile Exchange (MATIF) - $334, by $52 and $40 more than at the beginning of July 2012 respectively.
The average price of wheat in Kazakhstan, as of August 24 this year, is 38-40 thousand tenge per ton ($240-265) compared to $124 in the beginning of the year.
