CSTO peacekeeping exercises launched in Kazakhstan

The launch ceremony of the ‘Unbreakable brotherhood- 2012’ joint peacekeeping exercises with the participation of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation’s state member detachments took place in Kazakhstan’s Iliy polygon today, Kazakh Defence Ministry reported.

The launch ceremony of the 'Unbreakable brotherhood- 2012' joint peacekeeping exercises with the participation of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation's state member detachments took place in Kazakhstan's Iliy polygon today, Kazakh Defence Ministry reported.

"I'm sure that 'Unbreakable brotherhood -2012' will enable the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between CSTO member states in the peacekeeping field and develop cooperation of its collective peacekeeping forces' management on preparation and implementation of operations," the chief of staff in Kazakh Defence Ministry, Colonel-General Saken Jasuzakov stated.

Military attaches of member states also noted that this event will be an essential stage in the development of international military cooperation and will contribute to the strengthening of stability.

The military exercises will last 10 days. According to background of the exercises, the peacekeepers will separate conflicting parties, accompany humanitarian goods and train attack repellents. Detachment personnel will conduct joint work on area demining, preservation and defence of credential objects and riot resistance.
