A meeting of representatives of the Member States of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE), organized by the Government of Kazakhstan within the campaign aimed at obtaining the right for Astana to host the International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 entitled "Energy for the future," was held in Paris, the press service of the Kazakh MFA reported.

A meeting of representatives of the Member States of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE), organized by the Government of Kazakhstan within the campaign aimed at obtaining the right for Astana to host the International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 entitled "Energy for the future," was held in Paris, the press service of the Kazakh MFA reported.

Special emphasis was made ​​on the initiative of Kazakhstan called "Green Bridge", the convergence efforts of the country and the international community, particularly the UN, which declared the 2012 year as the "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All".

"The theme that was selected by Kazakhstan - "Future Energy" reflects our commitment to the "green" economy and the development of international cooperation in the field of sustainable energy," - said in his speech the Minister of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan Mr. Kapparov.

Minister Kapparov and the national coordinator of the "Expo-2017" project, Senior Secretary of the MFA Rapil Zhoshybayev held a series of bilateral meetings with ambassadors and delegates of BIE member states located in Africa and Latin America, who wished to discuss the possibility of establishing cooperation within the economic potential of Kazakhstan, experience for the development of energy and environmental sectors within the framework of the current event.

One of the main goals of the Astana-Expo-2017 project is to expand global cooperation with industrialized, developing and less developed countries. Particular attention is focused on the South-South vector.

Addressing the representatives of the diplomatic representations accredited in France, the European companies working in the field of energy and environment, as well as the media, Ambassador Nurlan Danenov said that the geography of partner countries has been significantly expanded since the nomination of Astana. The cooperation project itself has won the support and sympathy of a large number of BIE delegates, regarding to its relevance and the special significance in achieving sustainable development.

"We've done a lot of work together. This allowed us to come closer, to get to know each other better and to expand the circle of friends and partners," - said the Ambassador.

The Kazakh delegation held a meeting with the Secretary General of BIE Vicente Losertales on the sidelines of its visit to Paris. The sides shared views on the issues which will be discussed at up-coming the 152nd session of the General Assembly of the Organization.
