A new lawyer will defend Kazakh border guard Vladislav Chelakh, who is accused of murder of 15 people at Arkankergen border port on the Kazakh-Chinese border in May, Kaziform reported.

On Tuesday within the trial process judge Erbol Akhmetzhanov said that new lawyer Zhumagaysha Sarzhanova will defend Chelakh's interests. The lawyer has been changed on the basis of Kazakhstan's criminal code.

The new lawyer has the access to the classified materials and has already acquainted with the case.

Some 15 bodies were found at the Arkankergen border post in late May including 14 border guards and a ranger. Border guard Vladislav Chelakh confessed that he killed his colleagues. However, later he refuted this confession and said the border post had been attacked. The main hearings on the case are ongoing in Kazakhstan. On November 30 the hearing was postponed due to absence of the both Chelakh's lawyers. The lawyers fail in court for health reasons.
