Border guard Vladislav Chelakh, accused of mass murder at Kazakh Arkankergen border post may be sentenced to life imprisonment. The State Prosecutor asked the Court to sentence Chelakh to such penalty, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.

"I ask the Court return Chelakh guilty without extenuating circumstances, and sentence him to life sentence in a colony of special regime", State Prosecutor Alexander Kiriak said, speaking in the pleadings.

Some 15 bodies were found at the Arkankergen border post in late May including 14 border guards and a ranger. Border guard Vladislav Chelakh confessed that he killed his colleagues. However, later he refuted this confession and said the border post had been attacked.

Earlier Chelakh refused to pronounce the last plea and to participate in the pleading due to distrust to the court. Chelakh's lawyer Serik Sarsenov will speak on December 10.
