On the territory of Almaty and Almaty region was not any damges and victims affected by the recent earthquake, representatives of the Department of Emergency Situations (DES) of the city said on a special briefing on Tuesday, Tengrinews.kz reported.
"Strong earthquake measuring 6.6 balls was recorded at 22.38 local time in Almaty region between settlements Kegen and Narynkol. At the epicenter, according to our data, was recorded about 7 balls. In Almaty region the earthquake was felt about 4 balls. Primary impetus was the main , then went "aftershocks" - so-called tremors. The strongest tremor measured 5.1 "- Director of Institute of Seismology Tanatkan Abakanov said at briefing.
He said that aftershocks will be felt for a few days in the area of the epicenter.
"Currently, we have registered dozens imperceptible earthquakes" - Abakanov added. DES representatives urged citizens of Almaty and Almaty region do not panic, not to succumb to provocations and await official information.
DES operates in emergency mode.
