Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan examining reports of its nationals amongst victims aboard crashed plane

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Astana is considering the presence of country's citizens aboard plane crashed in Kazakhstan, the embassy told Trend.

A passenger aircraft belonging to the SCAT airline operating on the Kokshetau-Almaty route with more than 20 passengers on board crashed in Almaty. All passengers and crew members were killed.

The plane crashed near the village of Kyzyltu in the Almaty region. According to preliminary information, the accident was caused by the heavy fog.

Wreckage from the plane was found near a farm located near the village of Guldala. The crash site is cordoned off.

Heads of prosecution, Linear Department of Internal Affairs on Almaty-1 station, airport representatives, Department of Emergency of Almaty and National Security Committee employees have left for the scene of the disaster.
